How are you?
Stupid question: did you carry an ice axe? or better question: will you
carry one if you have to start the CDT again?
Me are doing fine and preparing myself. having fun. looking forward to be
back on the trail!

Toek, this is a good question about the ice axe. If I were hiking the CDT
southbound again, I would definitely carry and ice axe the 1st week thru
Glacier. I would ship it home after that as long as the snowpack was
average or below normal. And according to:

the snowpack in Northern Montana is below normal right now . . . but IŽd
check that website again on April 1st.
P.O.D. and I carried ice axes thru the Bob Marshall Wilderness last year
also, and we never took them off the side of our packs. But you will
definitely want one in Glacier. P.O.D. ice axe self arrested 2 times on Day
3!!
One important thing though . . . have you had training in how to self arrest
with an ice axe?
